Korek Telecom, a major telecommunications operator headquartered in the Kurdistan Region and serving audiences across Iraq, sought to roll out a nationwide festive campaign for Eid. The primary objective was to spotlight the introduction of next-generation 5G connectivity and superior video calling capabilities. The core challenge was to avoid cold, spec-heavy telecommunication marketing (such as bandwidth numbers or network latency) and transform high-speed connectivity into an emotional human experience that could cut through the cluttered Eid advertising space.
Our cultural research revealed an essential dynamic: a significant portion of the Kurdish community lives scattered across the global diaspora. Festive seasons like Eid amplify the longing for closeness and face-to-face celebration with loved ones back home.
At the heart of Kurdish celebratory culture lies the iconic communal folk dance (Halparke)—a circle where dancers link hands shoulder-to-shoulder, moving in synchronized unity as an enduring symbol of togetherness, resilience, and collective celebration.
Our central creative premise was born: “Physical distance vanishes when our hands meet across screens.”
We reimagined this cultural tradition into a striking visual system: a continuous line of smartphones where men and women in traditional festive attire reach across screen bezels to hold hands with one another. Each phone frames an individual from different corners of the world, yet together they form a seamless, joyful dance line. Korek became the true hero of connection—the digital bridge turning miles into smiles.
Boldern deployed an integrated omnichannel rollout across key festive touchpoints:
- Key Visuals & Out-of-Home (OOH): High-impact billboards and city banners showcasing the unbroken rhythm of dancers linking hands across smartphone displays against clean, uplifting backgrounds.
- Campaign Film & Video Content: Dynamic festive showreels and video spots capturing the anticipation of video calls, hands interlocking across screens, and the joyous energy of celebration.
- Interactive Mall Activations: Life-sized smartphone mockups and photo standees placed in high-traffic shopping centers across Iraq, inviting mall-goers to stand in line, take photos holding hands with the on-screen dancers, and complete the chain.
- Digital & User-Generated Content (UGC): An interactive social media campaign on Instagram, inviting audiences to share their in-mall standee photos and celebrate real video-call moments with relatives abroad.
By elevating a technical 5G rollout into a heartfelt cultural celebration, the campaign generated immediate consumer resonance. Boldern enabled Korek Telecom to rise above competitive parity, positioning the brand not merely as an infrastructure provider, but as the trusted catalyst uniting Kurdish and Iraqi families across the globe during Eid.
